Overlanding - it's our leaders that make the difference

West African market

The roads!

Just back from his trip to West Africa, intrepid traveller Rob Kuhlmann, sends us this report:

'I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Hatter (Dave the Hat) as Tour Leader and James Appleby the co-leader.
Due to their efforts I had great trip!
It was extremely well organized; especially since due to flooding in Cameroon they had to change the itinerary and take a totally different route. It didn't matter that a lot of the roads were new to them. There was no hesitation on their part at all. And we wound up seeing a lot more than I would have hoped for.
Every question we had was quickly answered and regardless of some people asking the same question over and over again, they never lost their cool, or became impatient with anyone.
Due to their professionalism, I again want to thank Dragoman for selecting great Tour leaders and Co-leaders and look forward to my next trip!'

These West Africa trips can be tough but if you are up for the challenge click here to see Rob's exact itinerary and here to see some more of his fantastic photos. They really are quite inspiring.

Family fun in Africa - one kid goes free!!

East Africa Family Adventure

Marrakech

If you have not booked your summer holiday yet and the kids are asking too many questions let Dragoman Overland help you out. We have two fantastic family holidays leaving this summer that could be exactly what you are looking for. And as a last minute incentive we are offering one free child place to all families. These trips have been designed to appeal to children as well as adults and are open to families with kids and teenagers aged 7 to 18.

Our East African Safari is an amazing trip and a brilliant way to introduce your children to the delights of Africa. There is plenty to see and do and the kids especially love getting involved with our community projects. The trip departs on the 27th July and takes you from the beaches of Zanzibar to the famous game parks of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater before heading into Kenya and the Rift Valley. It is an excellent first time family adventure.

The Moroccan family adventure is a real gem. Activities and cultural experiences abound and there are plenty of pools to cool you down after a day's sightseeing. This is up market overlanding and you will stay in elegant merchants' riads in Marrakech, converted Kasbahs and small family run hotels with just a few nights camping in the desert to add that little bit of magic. Departs 28 July.

Fi say Hi!

dreaming of the next big trip!

Hi, I'm Fiona and I first started working at Dragoman Overland in January 2000. I started in the Sales Team looking after our Overseas Agents and then moved across to look after our direct bookings. In 2004 I made the decision to move away from travel and tried my hand at selling allsorts of other bits and pieces - houses, soup(!) and chocolate. But the lure of travel has brought me back and I'm happy to say I have just completed another 6 months back in the fold!

Life is always busy in the sales team but good fun, and it's fantastic to be sending passengers off to these great destinations. I have been lucky enough to go on The Safari Experience trip during my time here and plan to do another trip later this year, perhaps to South America but it's difficult to choose!

Late Availability in South America

Exploring the Amazon

Local life

We still have some spaces free on these amazing trips in South America departing this summer.
They begin with 'Salsa & the Spanish Main' which leaves Quito on the 26th June and explores the beauty of Colombia and the National Parks of Venezuela. This 21 night trip includes some internal flights which means we get to visit all of the highlights.

Following on from this is 'Lost Worlds and Jungles' which leaves Caracas on the 17th July. Caribbean beaches, the Orinoco Delta, breathtaking Angel Falls and the steamy Amazon, this trip is a real adventure.

Lastly 'Amazon & the heart of Brazil' takes you off the beaten track and explores the remote areas of the Amazon. You travel by boat into the backwaters and ranches of the Pantanal to see the amazing wildlife before letting your hair down at Rio - the infamous party town.

You can do any one of these trips or if you are feeling brave all three!
